Controlled light, real space, no weather to work around. The studio is where the editorial look comes from.

The Space

Built for portraits, not squeezed into a spare room.

Most studio photography in Winnipeg happens in a small room with a paper backdrop. This is a heritage space with the scale to build light properly.

Room to move. Fifteen-foot ceilings and up to fifty people at once, so a three-generation family session fits as comfortably as a couple.

Light we control. Twelve-foot windows for soft daylight, and studio lighting shaped from nothing for the dramatic, editorial frames.

Nobody else here. The studio is private for your session: a dressing area, a maternity wardrobe, and no one waiting for the room.

The Reveal

You see the finished work here, properly.

About two weeks after a maternity or family session, you come back to the studio to see your fully retouched images on a large viewing screen.

No thumbnails on a phone. You choose your favourites together, in person, and the collection that suits your family and your walls.

Mark captured our family beautifully and honestly. I was nervous our busy toddlers wouldn’t cooperate with suggested poses, but Mark fully understood the assignment and let them lead the way.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Where is the studio?

68 Albert Street in Winnipeg’s Exchange District.

Who uses the studio?

Our maternity and family sessions happen here, along with engagement portraits, wedding-morning First Look sessions and every Reveal appointment. It is closed to everyone else while you are in it.

How many people fit?

Up to fifty, which is why large family and multi-generational sessions work so well here. Grandparents, aunts, uncles and every grandchild can be photographed together and in smaller groups in one sitting.

Is there somewhere to change?

Yes. There is a private dressing area, and maternity clients have access to our studio wardrobe. Hair and makeup can be added before a maternity session.

Can we get married in the studio?

Yes. Studio elopements are photographed in the space for up to fifty guests. See studio elopements.
